Moharram processions: DM orders road repairs on key routes
PRAYAGRAJ, July 4 -- Ahead of the 9th and 10th Moharram processions scheduled for July 5 and 6, district magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar has directed the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) to carry out road repairs along the designated routes. The instruction aims to ensure a smooth and safe passage for Tazia processions, officials said on Thursday.
Officers, including sub-divisional magistrates (SDM), Tehsildars, and Lekhpals, have been told to stay in regular contact with procession organisers to address any concerns on the ground.
The district administration has capped the height of Tazias at 10 feet to avoid any untoward incidents. Meanwhile, the police commissioner has requested deployment of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and written to the additional district magistrate (ADM) City Satyam Mishra for law and order arrangements.
As per the DM, all preparations had been completed for the smooth conduct of processions in the city....
