Ahmedabad, Nov. 16 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Congress at a Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas event in Dediapada in Narmada district on Friday, saying the party that ruled India for six decades "left tribal communities to their fate". He made the remark during a 35-minute public address after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of development projects worth over Rs.9,700 crore in the tribal belt of south Gujarat. "The occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas also reminds us of the injustice meted out to our crores of our tribal brothers and sisters. He added that tribal welfare has always been the highest priority for their party' unwavering resolve to end the injustices faced by tribal communities and to ensure that the benefits of development reach them. "Our country gained freedom way back in 1947 and the tribal community is also linked to Lord Ram. It is so old. But those who ruled for six decades did not realise that there is a need to work on development of such a large community. For the first time when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister in the BJP led government then for the first time a separate ministry for tribal affairs was established. After his government, when Congress got an opportunity to serve the country for ten years, they neglected this ministry. It was completely forgotten." P6...
