Mock parliament by BJYM in U.P. to mark 50th year of Emergency
LUCKNOW, June 20 -- UP unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) will organise a three-day mock parliament programme to mark the 50th year of the Emergency, which it described as a dark chapter of democracy.
BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh on Thursday reviewed preparations for the mock parliament which will be held at nine districts in the state on June 25, 26 and 27.
Addressing BJYM office-bearers in the party's state headquarters, Singh said, "The then Congress government had imposed Emergency, which is a dark chapter and an attack on democracy. It is necessary to make the youth aware of this historical truth to prevent a repeat of such a crisis. Citizens, including the youth, should work to strengthen democracy."...
