Lucknow, March 23 -- Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh has proposed launching an "AI Saathi - Senior Citizen Digital Empowerment Mission" in Uttar Pradesh, urging Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to equip elderly citizens to cope with the fast-evolving digital and artificial intelligence ecosystem. In a letter to the chief minister, Singh highlighted that a growing number of essential services-including pensions, direct benefit transfers (DBT), ration distribution, healthcare access and financial transactions-are now delivered through digital platforms. However, he flagged the increasing risk of exclusion among senior citizens who are unable to adapt to these systems.Singh said 75% cybercrimes are financial, with elderly most vulnerable; 4-5 crore seniors will depend on digital services.
