Meerut, Feb. 8 -- The MLA from the Swar-Tanda constituency in Rampur district, publicly alleged misuse of his identity through a vehicle bearing his designation, only to withdraw his complaint within hours, acknowledging that the vehicle belonged to his own family. On Friday afternoon, the MLA Shafeeq Ahmad Ansari took to X, claiming that a Thar vehicle with "MLA" written on it and carrying a "fake" pass was moving around in the Swar area. In his post, he stated that his identity was being misused and clarified that he had no connection with the vehicle. He also mentioned the vehicle's registration number and tagged senior police officials, prompting immediate administrative attention. The issue quickly escalated as the complaint came directly from a sitting legislator. Following the post, police across the Swar region swung into action. Checkpoints were activated, and alerts were circulated from one police station to another through the control room to trace the vehicle. He further clarified that the pass affixed on the vehicle also belonged to him. In the letter, the MLA requested that no action be taken in connection with his earlier social media post. According to sources, before the police could locate or intercept the vehicle, the clarification letter reached the Swar Kotwali, effectively halting the operation. The episode sparked widespread discussion in the Swar area, with many questioning how such confusion arose in the first place. Despite the subsequent clarification, circle officer Atul Kumar Pandey confirmed that an FIR had already been registered based on the initial information shared by the MLA. "An FIR was lodged on the basis of the information provided. Further action will now be taken as per legal procedure," the CO said....
