LUCKNOW, Sept. 25 -- On the third day of the ongoing Mission Shakti campaign on Wednesday, the Lucknow police commissionerate organised programmes across all police stations to honour women who have overcome adversities and carved a better life for themselves and their families. Senior officers, along with women personnel, felicitated these women achievers for their resilience and contribution to society. Officials said the aim of the initiative was to spread awareness about safety, empowerment and the role of self-reliant women in building a secure community. In all, more than 160 events were held across the commissionerate. As part of the drive, police teams have visited 497 Durga Puja pandals and Ramleela venues so far, engaging in awareness dialogue with nearly 5,000 people. Foot patrolling and public interaction were also conducted at 217 crowded spots, while checks were carried out at 310 locations, leading to the inspection of over 4,041 vehicles and issuance of 780 challans. Officials added that all 54 police stations under the commissionerate were running Anti-Romeo squads that had checked about 5,000 individuals at 478 locations, issuing warnings where necessary. In Gomti Nagar, a team registered an FIR against an accused, who was arrested and sent to jail. As part of the Mission Shakti campaign, the basic education department organised Meena Day and Meena Fair across the state on Wednesday. A total of 13.90 lakh children, 82,427 teachers, and 2,20,313 parents participated, said a spokesperson. The event took place in all primary, upper primary, composite schools, and KGBVs. The Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a two-day foot patrol operation during which around 85,619 suspicious individuals were checked at 14,861 locations across the state, according to a release.
