Miraculous escape for passengers as inter-state bus rams into container
LUCKNOW, Oct. 7 -- A Bihar-Delhi passenger bus rammed into a container truck near the Udayat Kheda underpass on Lucknow's Outer Ring Road on Monday afternoon.
The driver, who got trapped in the mangled cabin, was rescued by the fire department and police teams.
"The incident occurred around 3:20 am on Monday. A team led by fire station officer Dharampal Singh rushed to the spot," said chief fire officer Ankush Mittal.
Upon arrival, they found that the bus, travelling from Muzaffarpur (Bihar) to Delhi, had collided with an unidentified truck, leaving the front portion completely crushed and the driver trapped inside.
Rescue personnel, using hydraulic cutters and other tools, cut through the cabin to free the trapped driver, Nafees, resident of Baghpat district, who was then sent to hospital by ambulance. Officials confirmed there was no loss of life.
"The bus was carrying around 30-40 passengers, all of whom were reported safe. They were later shifted to another vehicle arranged by the bus company. The damaged bus was removed from the road, and traffic on the Outer Ring Road was restored," police said in their statement....
