PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 2 -- Four days after a fatal hit-and-run incident on Chaufatka Bridge, the Cantonment police on Saturday arrested the driver, who left one person dead and three grievously injured. To their surprise, the accused turned out to be a minor who had taken a relative's car without permission. According to the police, the juvenile lost control of the speeding car on the bridge, crashing into multiple two-wheelers before fleeing the scene. "The minor responsible for the Chaufatka Bridge accident has been apprehended, and the vehicle has been seized. Further legal action is underway," said Manish Kumar Shandilya, DCP (City), Prayagraj. The incident occurred on the morning of October 29, when a car rammed into three motorcycles and a scooter on Chaufatka Bridge. Rohit Kushwaha, a resident of Preetam Nagar, died on the spot, while three others, sustained injuries.Based on a number plate found at the site, police traced the vehicle to a minor from Bharetha village in the Puramufti area of Prayagraj.
