Minor feared drowned in canal
Bahraich, March 17 -- An 11-year-old boy was feared drowned after accidentally slipping into the Bhaghar Nala (canal) in Raiganj village under the Baiwahi police outpost area on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2pm.
According to reports, Anuj s/o Ram Sahare and a resident of Raiganj village, was returning home after attending classes at Bhimrao Ambedkar School in Rampur Dhobiya. While passing near the Bhaghar Nala, located close to his house, he reportedly stopped to pick 'ber' (jujube) fruit growing along the canal bank. During this time, his foot slipped and he lost balance, falling into the deep waters of the canal.
Two media persons were killed and two others sustained injuries after a DCM truck crossed the divider and rammed into their car near Rasoolabad under Kotwali Police Station Sant Kabir Nagar early Monday.

Mishra, 38. Injured Raman Kumar and Sudesh Mishra are being treated at Maharishi Devrahva Baba Medical College Deoria. They were returning to Kushinagar after a Holi Milan and journalist felicitation event in Lucknow. Police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
The body of nine-year-old Mominul Haq, missing since Sunday afternoon, was found floating in a pond near a railway line in the Salum area of North Jatepur under Gorakhnath Police Station on Monday, police said. The victim lived with his family in a local slum.
Police detained a 15-year-old minor last seen with him, who allegedly confessed to drowning him. The accused was sent to a juvenile home. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Police said the boy left home after iftar on Sunday. Investigation is under way.
The anti-corruption team from Jhansi caught a Lekhpal and his private assistant from his official residence in Talbehat area of Lalitpur district on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from a farmer for filing a report for the change of land use.
The accused has been identified as lekhpal Deepesh Kumar Singh and his associate Satyam Sahu. Action was taken on the complaint of Jagganath Sahu of village Bijrotha falling under Talbehat tehsil. Both of them will be presented in the newly formed anti-corruption court in Jhansi.
A priest at age old Radhavallabh temple in Sahar village of Barsana in Mathura district was found injured and was admitted at a hospital in Mathura. The pujari identified as Mohan Dass (42) had been residing at temple for past eight years. Superintendent of police (rural) at Mathura, Suresh Chandra Rawat said that information was received at about 10.30am on Sunday.
"The CCTV footage reveal that pujari was alone in the temple and no one else was seen moving in or out of the campus," said SP rural. "The priest is out of danger," claimed Rawat....
