Minor boy dies by suicide after assault over theft allegation
LUCKNOW, May 14 -- A 16-year-old boy died by suicide in the Madiaon area of the city after an alleged assault from neighbours who accused him of theft.
According to police reports, the boy was a Class 9 student and lived with his family in the Raipur Madiaon locality on IIM Road.
"Based on the complaint of the family, a case has been registered, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination," said SHO Madiaon Shivanand Mishra. He added, "An investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken once forensic and witness reports are received."
The incident unfolded late Monday night during a power outage in the area. The teenager was reportedly outside his house with a sibling and remained alone for a brief period. Within half an hour, neighbours informed the family that the boy was being physically assaulted by local residents who accused him of entering their home to steal.
Family members rushed to the spot and found him being restrained and beaten. When asked for evidence of theft, the alleged attackers could not produce any stolen items.
The boy was brought back home with injuries and was reportedly deeply distressed.
According to the family, he withdrew completely and did not speak to anyone. "The next morning, around 5 am, he was found hanging from an iron support structure on the roof of the house. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival," the family told police....
