Ministers visit flood-hit Bundelkhand, oversee relief efforts
lucknow, July 16 -- Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh visited flood-affected areas of Chitrakoot and Banda districts on Tuesday, while Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Ramkesh Nishad, reviewed the situation in Lalitpur district.
CM Yogi Adityanath has directed ministers to visit flood-hit regions and monitor relief, rescue, and rehabilitation work.
In Chitrakoot, Singh visited Ramghat and interacted with shopkeepers, traders, and farmers impacted by the floods. He asked the district administration to survey damaged shops, houses, and establishments and submit a report for timely compensation.
He distributed disaster relief kits at the Bhajan Sandhya venue and assured people that assistance was being extended through the administration and local representatives.
He instructed officials to maintain cleanliness, spray bleaching powder to prevent disease outbreaks, and ensure adequate medicine stock for the affected population.
In Banda, Singh inspected the flood situation near Yamuna at Chillaghat. He asked officials to monitor water levels of the Yamuna and Ken rivers, identify erosion-prone areas, and complete protection works on time. He also directed availability of boats and relief materials, and timely alerts to residents.
Minister of State Ramkesh Nishad visited flood-hit areas of Lalitpur, including Padwa village in Mahroni tehsil and the damaged Banpur-Chakaura link road.
He directed the Public Works Department to carry out immediate repairs to restore transportation. He also inspected the Govind Sagar Dam....
