Minister directs dialogue between teachers, students and mothers
Lucknow, April 22 -- Secondary education minister (independent charge) Gulab Devi has issued directives to enhance awareness regarding menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls and instructed teachers to establish a dialogue with girl students and their mothers.
She was speaking after inaugurating the second phase of the two-day state-level training programme for master trainers on menstrual hygiene management on Tuesday.
The objective of this initiative is to eliminate social taboos associated with menstruation, foster self-confidence among adolescent girls, and provide them with a safe, dignified, and supportive educational environment. In her address, the minister directed teachers to invite the mothers of students in Classes 9 and 10 to the school premises and talk to them on the subject of menstrual hygiene. She emphasised the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with traditional practices, describing this initiative as a significant step toward women's empowerment.
Following this training, the state-level Master Trainers will train nodal teachers in their respective districts, who will, in turn, train other teachers at the school level.
Organised by Samagra Shiksha (Secondary), during this training programme, experts from partner organisations-including the National Health Mission, RKSK, Vatsalya, Sarthak, and Khushi-are imparting training on subjects such as menstrual hygiene management, adolescent health, behavioural change, nutrition, personal hygiene, and legal literacy....
