LUCKNOW, Dec. 23 -- Urban development and energy minister AK Sharma on Monday informed the House that the government maintains a sensitive and liberal approach with regard to electricity tariffs related to educational and other social institutions. Replying to questions raised by members in the legislative council, he clarified that power tariffs for educational institutions should not be in the commercial category or higher. In this regard, a written request will be sent to the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission so that necessary action can be ensured. Sharma said Kumari Sneha Singh (daughter of Girjanand Singh), elder unmarried sister of late Kumari Ambika Singh, has been appointed to the post of tax collector under the deceased dependent quota. He also informed that Sneha assumed charge of the said post at Nagar Panchayat, Chauri Chaura, Gorakhpur, on December 15. This happened after receiving advice from the personnel department, through an order dated July 22, issued by the executive officer, Nagar Panchayat. On the question of road construction in various areas/localities of municipal council, Mainpuri, the minister said after the expansion of municipal limits, 196 roads/lanes were constructed in various localities/areas at a cost of Rs.23.19 crore....
