LUCKNOW, May 28 -- A housewarming celebration turned tragic in Charai village under Baudi police station limits in Barabanki when an LPG leak caused a fire, injuring 11 members of a family just after midnight on Monday. A 12-year-old boy sustained severe burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a higher medical facility in Bahraich, police said on Tuesday. According to Bahraich additional superintendent of police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari, the incident occurred at the residence of Deshraj Yadav, who had recently completed the construction of a new house. The family was preparing food at around 1 am following the housewarming ceremony when a fire erupted due to an LPG gas leak. "All eleven family members were inside the house when the fire broke out. They were rescued by alert villagers who rushed to help," ASP Tiwari said. "The injured were taken to the local community health centre, from where the critically injured boy, identified as Sikandar, was referred to the district hospital in Bahraich."
