Haridwar, Dec. 23 -- Five people were arrested for allegedly tying a mentally ill woman to a pole and beating her in Ranipur area of Haridwar, a senior police officer said on Monday. According to the police, the incident came to light after a video clip began circulating on social media on Sunday evening. Taking cognisance of the footage, police registered a case late on Sunday night at Ranipur police station. During the probe, police traced the incident to Labour Colony, Sector-2, BHEL, officials said. "Five accused were arrested during raids conducted late Sunday night and Monday morning from the labour colony area," said Shantu Kumar Gangwar, in-charge of Ranipur police station. He added that the victim's family members informed the police that the woman is facing mental issues for a long time and had allegedly entered the house of one of the accused without any intention of theft....
