Meerut murder: Friend kills youth over love triangle
Meerut, May 10 -- In a gruesome murder in Meerut's Lisarigate area that has stunned the local community, 20-year-old Shadab was allegedly shot dead by his neighbour and close friend, Sonu over suspicions linked to a love triangle. The crime, which occurred on April 28, took an unexpected turn on Wednesday night when Sonu, during a police operation to recover the murder weapon, opened fire on officers and was injured in retaliator firing.
Shadab, a resident of Mewgarhi ,Majidnagar within Lisarigate police limits, was reportedly lured by Sonu and his associate Bilal to a gathering involving alcohol. The trio purchased liquor and beer from a shop near Jurranpur railway crossing and proceeded to a remote chilli field along a dirt track towards Narhada.
Police said Shadab was forced to drink heavily. As he got drunk, Bilal used his phone to film him, and Sonu shot him in the head with a country-made pistol. The act was allegedly recorded. His body was found the next morning, April 29, starting a murder probe.
A month earlier, Shadab was caught in a compromising situation with his sister-in-law, Shahnuma. She was murdered the next day. Her family from Kithore accused her husband Mohsin and his relatives, who are still absconding. Sonu, who had feelings for Shahnuma, was upset by her death and believed Shadab was involved. He and Bilal allegedly planned Shadab's murder. Sonu was arrested on May 8 and confessed. On May 9, during weapon recovery, he fired at police. They shot back, injuring his leg. He is now in hospital. Police confirmed his confession and are searching for Bilal. The case, tied to love and revenge, is still under investigation....
