MEERUT, Nov. 30 -- A first-year MBBS student was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a private university located along the Meerut bypass on Saturday afternoon, police said. The body was found hanging inside his hostel room, they added. According to officials, fellow students grew concerned when they repeatedly knocked the hostel room's door around noon for some work, but received no response from inside. They alerted the hostel administration. Upon being informed, police reached the scene and broke open the door, only to find the body hanging. The son of a sub-inspector, the deceased, a resident of Aligarh, had recently enrolled on the MBBS course. Police sent the body for autopsy. Initial findings point to suicide, but investigators said the exact motive remains unclear. Sardhana circle officer (CO) Ashutosh Kumar said all possible angles were being investigated, and the post-mortem report was awaited.
