GORAKHPUR, July 23 -- The first pre-professional examination for the MBBS 2021 batch at BRD Medical College, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, has been postponed following a food poisoning incident that affected several students. The exam will now commence on July 31, the college administration confirmed. The decision came after multiple students from the new hostel fell ill on Friday night after consuming food from the hostel mess. Many reported symptoms such as stomach pain and vomiting. According to Dr Raj Kumar Jaiswal, Principal of BRD Medical College, students from the first, third, and final year were among those affected. By Saturday, around a dozen students had reported illness, and the number rose to 40 by Sunday morning. While most were discharged by Sunday evening, six remained under medical observation until Monday morning.An internal three-member inquiry committee has been formed to probe the incident.
