Mayors' meet focuses on clean, green cities
Lucknow, Dec. 29 -- A two-day regional conference of the All India Mayors Council concluded in Ayodhya, with mayors from several Uttar Pradesh cities discussing sustainable urban development, sanitation and citizen-centric governance.
The second day of the conference was held in Ayodhya and chaired by Ayodhya mayor Mahant Girishpati Tripathi. Mayors from Lucknow, Bareilly, Kanpur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Jhansi, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj participated in the deliberations. Key focus areas included smart infrastructure, solid waste management, expansion of green cover, environmental protection and increased public participation in civic initiatives, a press release stated.
Lucknow mayor and All India Mayors Council general secretary Sushma Kharkwal highlighted major initiatives of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. She said a state-of-the-art municipal corporation office building is under construction to strengthen e-governance and improve civic service delivery.
She also said over 1,200 electric vehicles are being used for door-to-door waste collection.
