LUCKNOW, Sept. 13 -- Expressing concern over poor recovery of tax and non-tax revenue, mayor Sushma Kharkwal on Friday warned Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) officials that negligence would not be tolerated. She made it clear that house tax bills would not be revised beyond April 1, 2022, and warned of strict action if orders were ignored. At a review meeting held at the LMC headquarters, the mayor said any laxity in boosting the corporation's income was unacceptable. She directed officials to prepare a concrete strategy to strengthen the civic body's finances and execute it within deadlines. Kharkwal expressed displeasure over repeated revisions of house tax bills despite payments being made, and instructed inspectors to personally verify records before approving corrections. "If such cases come to light again, strict action will be taken against the concerned officers or employees," she warned. Taking note of inspectors posted in the same wards for years, she ordered mandatory transfers every three years to curb irregularities.
