Mayor gets ex-LMC employee's pension cleared within 2 hours
LUCKNOW, Sept. 7 -- Expressing her strong displeasure over the delay in completing formalities regarding regularisation that denied post superannuation benefits to a sanitation supervisor Brijesh Kumar at the time of his retirement on August 31 last month, mayor Sushma Kharakwal on Saturday summoned senior Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) officials to her camp office where the pending file was prepared and cleared within two hours, said an LMC press release.
Brijesh Kumar was then handed his pension book and other retirement documents on the spot, it added. The issue came to light during a farewell organised at the LMC headquarters for 12 employees who retired last month. While most received their dues, Brijesh Kumar did not get the same. An inquiry revealed that the delay in completing his regularisation process had led to the situation.
Terming the lapse "serious negligence," Kharakwal warned that such situations should not arise in future. She directed officials to ensure timely regularisation of all eligible employees, saying that any recurrence would invite strict action against the department head concerned.
Meanwhile, during the farewell, the mayor felicitated all 12 retired employees by presenting them mementoes. They were also given their pension books, earned leave encashment and provident fund payments. The event was attended by BJP corporator Sushil Tiwari 'Pammi', SP corporator Kamran Beg, executive committee member Arun Rai, additional municipal commissioner Lalit Kumar and accounts officer Mahamilind Lal among others.
