Mayor clears cowshed project, renaming of overbridge in Kashi
VARANASI, Nov. 28 -- Varanasi mayor Ashok Tiwari has approved the construction of a cowshed equipped with a veterinary clinic on five bighas of land in Daniyalpur to house and treat stray animals.
The decision was taken at the executive committee meeting of Varanasi Nagar Nigam (VNN), chaired by Tiwari on Wednesday. The committee also passed a proposal to rename the Kazzakpura Road Overbridge as the Baba Laat Bhairav Flyover, VNN public relations officer Sandeep Srivastava said.
The committee instructed officials to prepare a proposal for a barrage to protect the low-lying areas of Nagwa and Assi from floods.
The municipal health officer and the animal welfare officer were reprimanded for delays in garbage collection and for failing to capture stray dogs and monkeys.
The mayor also directed strict action against open meat and chicken shops operating within city limits, warning that any shop found without a curtain would face immediate action. In line with a previous decision, the general engineering department sought information on the availability of labour and construction material at the ward level.
Tiwari also reviewed complaints registered on the Smart Kashi app and expressed displeasure over the backlog of more than 2,000 pending cases across departments. He directed that all previous proposals be resolved by December 3.
The mayor approved the deployment of 15 junior engineers each in the Jalkal, general engineering and lighting departments to expedite ongoing work.
In another proposal, corporator Hanuman Prasad suggested offering property tax incentives to residents installing rooftop solar plants. It was decided that building owners installing and connecting solar plants to the grid between December 1 and 31 will receive a 10% discount on lump-sum property tax and a 12% discount if the payment is made online.htc...
