LUCKNOW, Aug. 30 -- After diarrhoea cases were reported in Jankipuram Extension Sector-7, Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal on Friday inspected the locality and directed municipal officials to strengthen sanitation and drinking water arrangements, according to a Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) press release. Residents complained of poor cleanliness, choked drains and irregular water supply, which they linked to the spread of illness. The mayor assured them that no compromise would be made on public health. The mayor instructed sanitation teams to immediately clean the drains and maintain strict monitoring to prevent garbage accumulation. She also told the Jal Kal department to ensure clean and uninterrupted drinking water supply so that residents do not suffer from water-borne diseases. She also directed the health department to deploy medical teams in the locality for quick detection and treatment of patients. "Public health and convenience are top priorities. Negligence will not be tolerated, and departments must work in coordination to provide relief," Kharkwal said....
