Maya slams seers for remarks on Ambedkar
LUCKNOW, Sept. 14 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Saturday criticised certain seers for their alleged statements about Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's role in shaping the Indian Constitution. In a post on X, Mayawati said that they appeared more interested in attention than in understanding his contributions.
Her comments came after seer Ramabhadracharya claimed that the Manusmriti was India's first constitution and that Dr Ambedkar would not have opposed it had he been aware of its true essence. She advised seers to refrain from such statements and instead, appreciate Ambedkar's work.
She emphasised that the followers of Dr Ambedkar oppose Manusmriti due to its perceived contradictions with the principles of social equality and justice that Dr Ambedkar championed. She urged seers to shed their "caste biases" and understand the rationale behind the opposition to Manusmriti, which stems from its "incompatibility with the values of social equality"....
