Maulvi held for assaulting students, forcibly cutting their hair
PRAYAGRAJ, July 19 -- A maulvi at a madrasa in Saraigani under Baharia police station area was arrested and sent to jail on Friday for allegedly assaulting students, beating them and forcibly cutting their hair, said police on Friday. The case came to light on Thursday when Irfan, a resident of Khojapur under the Mauaima police station, filed a complaint with the Baharia police, alleging that on Wednesday, maulvi, Qari Ayub, at the Gulshan-e-Azme-Jivir Madrasa in Saraigani had beaten his son and then forcibly cut his hair.
He stated that earlier, his younger son had also been beaten and had his hair forcibly cut by the same maulvi. It is alleged that when the student refused to let him cut his hair, Ayub became angry and struck the child with a stick. He also threatened to hang the child.
SHO of Baharia police station, Mahesh Mishra stated that based on the complaint filed by the child's father, action was taken against Qari Ayub, who was sent to jail on Friday....
