Agra, Dec. 21 -- Mathura police rescued a college-going student from three kidnappers, including a woman, after an abduction complaint was lodged at the Jait police station of Mathura on Friday. Two of the accused were injured in an encounter and told police that they planned the kidnapping of the girl after watching a web series, SSP Mathura Shlok Mathur said. ''Police at Jait police station in Mathura was informed by a man that his daughter had not returned after she had gone to college in Kotwali area of Mathura city. A call was received by the family whereby a ransom of Rs 30 lakh was sought for the release of the student, who was in their custody," the SSP said. "The accused said that they planned the kidnapping of the student after watching a web series," he said, adding the aim was to make quick money. They hired an auto rickshaw and kidnapped the student, who, after finding a woman in the autorickshaw, got assured and sat in it but was taken elsewhere instead of her house forcibly. "Police teams were constituted and a joint operation by police from Jait police station and Special Operations Group (SOG) was launched and the student was recovered within 24 hours of the incident on Friday evening. Two of the men accused were injured in a police encounter. The woman accused was also arrested," the SSP said. The encounter took place in the jungles of Dhorera in the outskirts of Mathura. Police recovered Rs 2.5 lakh handed over as ransom amount besides illegal arms and the auto rickshaw used in the kidnapping. A case was registered under section 140(2) of BNS at Jait police station of Mathura.
