Master plan on cards for Ladakh's growth: L-G
Leh, May 2 -- Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday said a comprehensive master plan is being prepared for the Union Territory's development, focusing on climate resilience, local architecture, green cover and modern transport systems, in collaboration with the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi.
"We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SPA, Delhi, for making a master plan on Ladakh. All aspects, including promotion of tourism while maintaining the local architecture, a robust transport system, and stopping haphazard construction, will be included in the master plan," Saxena said while interacting with reporters at the secretariat in Leh.
In addition, as part of efforts to boost eco-spiritual tourism, Saxena said two locations, Wari La and Choglamsar, are being developed as "Valley of Flowers" sites.
These will feature a wide variety of flowers suited to Ladakh's harsh climate, including extreme cold and low oxygen levels, and are expected to be ready by the end of June, he said.
