GORAKHPUR, Nov. 23 -- The massive blaze at Rungta Industries' bran-oil plant in GIDA Sector-15, which erupted early on Friday, was finally brought under control after a non-stop overnight operation, early on Saturday morning, nearly 25 hours after it began. Almost 100 firefighters from eight districts across the Gorakhpur, Basti, and Azamgarh divisions were deployed to combat the inferno. District magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed that round-the-clock monitoring would continue for the next 10-12 hours to eliminate the risk of re-ignition. With the fire fully extinguished, engineering teams began inspecting the damaged pipelines and tank perimeter. Experts stated that the prolonged exposure to extreme heat may have weakened several metal joints, adding that even minor leak points must be sealed before the plant resumes operations. A member of the technical team said, "The blaze is doused, but some metal structures are still extremely hot. We are not taking any chances." Chief fire officer (CFO) Santosh Kumar Rai said that firefighters would remain stationed at the site as a precaution. "Even though the fire is out, we are maintaining a close watch to ensure no secondary ignition occurs," he said. Fire officials noted that the most time-consuming phase of the operation involved cooling overheated pipelines and large industrial storage tanks. Fire tenders were deployed to continuously spray water to cool the hexone gas tank. On Saturday, DM Meena constituted a seven-member probe committee to investigate the cause of the massive fire. A senior fire department officer, however, pointed to a critical systems failure: "The factory's fire safety system failed exactly when it was needed the most. We did not receive any initial suppression from the plant's internal mechanisms."...
