LUCKNOW, Feb. 13 -- CCTV footage purportedly showing six masked youths conducting a late-night recce inside Vivekanand Colony in Indira Nagar at around 2.45 am on Wednesday has triggered concern among residents over night patrolling in the area. The video, which surfaced on social media on Thursday, prompted police to issue a statement. "The matter is under investigation. CCTV footage and other means are being used to identify the suspicious individuals. Night patrolling has been increased and necessary legal action will be taken," police said. The footage purportedly shows the group entering residential lanes, stopping outside houses and peering through gates. Residents alleged that when stray dogs barked, the suspects threw stones at them and continued moving around for several minutes despite the area being under Indira Nagar police station limits. "If six people can roam a colony at nearly 3 am without fear, it raises questions about night patrols," said a resident. Members of the Sarvodaya Vikas Samiti submitted a complaint to the Indira Nagar SHO seeking intensified night patrols and fixed police rounds.
