Mascot 'Singha' unveiled as Lko prepares for nat'l school athletics
LUCKNOW, Nov. 18 -- As part of the Viksit Bharat campaign, the Uttar Pradesh secondary education department, in collaboration with the School Games Federation of India, is hosting the 69th National School Athletics Championship (Under-17) for boys and girls in Lucknow.
The event will take place from December 13 to 17 at Guru Govind Singh Sports College on Kursi Road.
The competition will feature 19 events, with athletes from across the country set to participate.
The event's mascot, 'Singha', along with its logo and trophy, was unveiled by Chandra Bhushan Singh, secretary of the secondary education department, at the directorate of secondary education in Lucknow.
Around 3,950 athletes, along with their coaches and managers from 44 teams, are expected to participate. The jury will include 20 sports experts nominated by the Athletics Federation of India and 35 athletics experts from the state.
All competitions will be conducted in accordance with international standards, and scientific electronic equipment will be provided to ensure transparency in judging.
A 24-hour control room has been established, and 44 liaison officers have been appointed to manage travel, transport, and accommodation for each team. Police will oversee traffic and security.
The medals will be awarded by Olympians, Asian Games, and Arjuna Awardees. Regular dope testing will be conducted at the competition through the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).
On this occasion, special secretary KK Gupta, director secondary education Dr Mahendra Dev, additional director Vishnu Kant Pandey, District School Inspector Lucknow Rakesh Kumar and other departmental officers were present....
