Markets, schools stay closed as Hathras observes shut down
Agra, May 2 -- After Aligarh, Hathras witnessed a spontaneous bandh on Thursday in protest against the Pahalgam killings. Markets remained shut, some schools stayed closed, and rallies were held where effigies of Pakistan were burnt.
"Even small vendors joined in, sending a strong message against terrorism," said local lawyer Munna Singh Pundhir. Although courts were closed due to a senior lawyer's passing, bar associations supported the bandh. Smaller towns like Sasni, Sikandrarau, and Sadabad also observed the shutdown. Traders gathered at Tiraha Bazar, pasted Pakistan's flag on the road, and set an effigy ablaze.
