Many city areas plunge into darkness
LUCKNOW, Aug. 4 -- Heavy rain in the state capital on Saturday and Sunday severely affected power supply in several areas due to fallen trees and technical faults. In Nigohan's Bajpai Kheda, a tree collapse brought down an LT line, leading to hours-long blackout in the vicinity. A tree fell on the Asti feeder Sunday, causing a four-hour power outage.
Heavy rain disrupted major power lines, including the Kapurthala feeder and a 33 kV line from New Alambagh substation, affecting areas like Indira Nagar, Aliganj, Nirala Nagar, Mahanagar, and parts of Lucknow University.
In the Rahimabad region, electricity supply was disrupted for four hours from 4 PM in several villages. Several feeders such as New Campus feeder, Subhash Park feeder in Mahanagar and others also went down.
The worst-hit was Nakkheda road in Alambagh where a fault at 5:30 AM caused a 12-hour power outage. Areas like Rajajipuram and Gomti Nagar also experienced extended power cuts. A LESA official said rain caused problems in supply. htc...
