Jhansi, Sept. 16 -- The anti-corruption department caught Shiv Kumar Raghav, deputy director of Mandi Parishad, Jhansi, red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 on Monday. The bribe was taken from a retired employee who wanted his pay grade pension to be increased. The complaint was made by Brij Mohan Mishra, a retired employee living in Shivaji Nagar. Mishra retired in 2017 and said that Raghav was delaying the pension increase even though it was approved by the head office in Lucknow. Raghav was asking for Rs 65,000 to release Mishra's file. Mishra contacted the anti-corruption department a week ago, and a trap was set. On Monday, Mishra agreed to pay Rs 30,000 in advance. He gave the money, which was marked with special chemicals, to Raghav in his office. Officials, along with two independent witnesses appointed by the district magistrate, entered the room immediately. When Raghav was caught, he tried to lock himself in his office to escape but was arrested and taken to Sipri Bazar police station for questioning. A case was filed against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. According to Shadab Khan, the leader of the anti-corruption team, Raghav will appear before a special magistrate in Lucknow on Tuesday....
