MEERUT, Nov. 10 -- A 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound following a violent confrontation over his sister's marriage proposal in Amroha district. The incident took place in Joya town, within the jurisdiction of the Didouli police station, where a man named Armaan Sonu allegedly pressured his sister's friend to marry his sister. In response, the woman reportedly shot him. Armaan is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Moradabad, where his condition remains critical. According to police, Armaan, a resident of Saitli village, lives with his parents and sister Rekha. About two years ago, Rekha went to Jaipur to prepare for the NEET medical entrance examination, where she met Tawish Raza, a resident of the Tankiwala locality in Moradabad. Their friendship grew over time, and the two remained in touch even after Rekha returned home, while Tawish continued his NEET preparations. On Saturday afternoon, Armaan reportedly went to Tawish's residence and confronted him, asking him either to marry his sister Rekha or to stop all contact with her. According to police, when Armaan insisted that the marriage take place the same day, a heated argument erupted between the two. In a fit of rage, Tawish allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Armaan, intending to kill him. The bullet hit Armaan in the shoulder, causing him to col lapse on the spot and bleed heavily. Tawish fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Upon hearing the gunshot, local residents rushed to the location and promptly informed the police. Didouli police team soon reached the scene and took the injured Armaan to a government hospital, later referring him to a private facility in Moradabad for advanced treatment. Circle officer Shakti Singh said a case of attempted murder has been filed against Tawish Raza, and efforts are on to arrest him.
