Haridwar, April 4 -- A man in his mid-20s allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with a country-made pistol near a petrol pump in Bahadrabad area of Haridwar on Friday, police said. According to superintendent of police (city), Haridwar, Abhay Pratap Singh, the police control room received a call from a girl on Friday morning alleging that a youth, who hailed from her village in Uttar Pradesh, had snatched her mobile phone at gunpoint and physically assaulted her near Jamalpur Chowk. "Immediately, a police team was dispatched and the location of the phone as well as the accused was traced. The location was found near the gas bottling plant in Bahadrabad," Singh said.
