PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 1 -- A man allegedly shot himself, sustaining serious injuries, following a domestic dispute in Hanumanpur Dharwara village under the Karachhana police station area late Monday night, police said. According to police, the 45-year-old man, a farmer, attempted to leave his house around 10:45 pm with a licenced firearm while under the influence of alcohol. When his wife questioned him, he stated he was going to a nearby Durga Puja pandal. She objected to him taking the gun, which led to a heated argument between the couple. In a fit of rage, the man allegedly shot himself with the same weapon. The bullet struck his jaw, leaving him critically injured. Neighbours rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot and alerted the police. He was first taken to the Community Health Centre in Karachhana and later referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj due to the severity of his injuries, police said.
