Man shoots lawyer uncle thrice over old rivalry, arrested
PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 5 -- A man shot at and injured his lawyer uncle over an old rivalry in Teliyarganj's Azad Market, under the Shivkuti police station area of Prayagraj, on Thursday evening.
Lawyer Vijay Pandey, hit by three bullets, was admitted to SRN Hospital. Shivkuti police took the accused, Omshiv Pandey, into custody from the scene of incident along with his licensed revolver.
Lawyer Vijay Pandey, a resident of Jondhwal in Shivkuti, had a long-standing dispute with his nephew, Omshiv Pandey, a resident of Rasulabad, over ancestral property. Omshiv Pandey's brother, Shivam Pandey, was murdered in 2013. A case was filed against lawyer Vijay Pandey and others on murder charges. After the investigation, police filed a final report.
However, in 2014, Omshiv Pandey filed a lawsuit in court against the police's report, which is still pending.
According to the police, Vijay Pandey and Omshiv Pandey encountered each other at a sweet shop in Azad Market at around 6.30 pm on Thursday. An argument broke out between the two over an old rivalry.
Vijay Pandey allegedly picked up an iron rod, prompting Omshiv Pandey to fire three shots from his licensed revolver.
Vijay Pandey was shot in the left shoulder, thigh, and right arm. Hearing the gunshots, panic broke out in Azad Market.
Shivkuti police took Omshiv Pandey into custody along with the revolver from the spot.
Vijay Pandey, who was injured by the gunshot, was admitted to SRN Hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
DCP (city) Manish Kumar Shandilya said that the accused has been taken into custody, while the injured has been admitted to SRN Hospital....
