PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 27 -- In a daylight incident on Friday, a man allegedly shot his mother-in-law dead in the Akbarpur area under Kareli police station, causing panic among locals. Police arrived at the scene promptly, seized the body, and sent it for a postmortem examination. DCP (city) Manish Shandilya also rushed to the site to gather information from the victim's family. According to initial reports, the accused son-in-law was allegedly upset that his wife was invited to stay with her following a dispute between the couple. He reportedly became furious and attacked her. A case has been registered, and police teams are searching for the suspect, police said. The victim, 55-year-old Aashiya Khatoon, had been caring for her family following the death of her husband, Mushtaq some years back. She had four sons-Naushad, Munna, Irshad, Dilshad-and three daughters-Rizwana, Farzana, and Chand Bibi. Aashiya Khatoon also earned a living by working in households in the neighborhood. Her youngest daughter, Chand Bibi, had been married to Irfan from the same locality about 10 years ago. The couple has a son and a daughter. Due to conflicts with her husband, Chand Bibi had been staying with her mother for some time. She claimed that her husband, Irfan, was pressuring her into immoral activities. On learning this, her mother took her in, which reportedly angered Irfan. On Friday around 3.30 pm, Aashiya Khatoon went out to get her cooking gas cylinder refilled. Near the Kali Temple, a short distance from her home, Irfan allegedly shot her in the head, killing her instantly, before fleeing the scene....
