Man set ablaze over money dispute in Lko
Lucknow, March 29 -- A man was allegedly set ablaze by his neighbour following a dispute over money in the Aliganj area of the city, leaving him with burn injuries, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred in Triveni Nagar-III on Wednesday, when the victim, Rakesh Yadav, was returning home from work. According to a complaint filed by his sister, Rani Yadav, the accused, identified as neighbour Balgar, confronted Rakesh near Moongfali Mandi and demanded money.
When Rakesh refused, the accused allegedly became aggressive and assaulted him. During the altercation, Balgar reportedly took out a bottle of petrol, poured it on Rakesh, and set him on fire, causing serious burn injuries.
Family members rushed the injured man to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Police said he sustained burns to his ear, hands and back.
In her complaint, Rani alleged that the accused is known in the locality for his aggressive behaviour and frequently gets into fights under the influence of alcohol and drugs. She claimed that residents are afraid of him and that he has been involved in similar incidents in the past.
Station house officer of Aliganj police station, Dhruv Kumar, said both parties knew each other and the incident stemmed from a dispute. "A case has been registered and an investigation is underway," he said.
Police added that the victim's condition is being monitored and further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe....
