Jhansi, Jan. 10 -- : A 23-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special POCSO court in Jhansi on Friday for abducting and raping a three-year-old girl. Special POCSO Court judge Mohd Niyaz Ahmad Ansari also imposed a fine of Rs.2.11 lakh on the convict, Sumit Ahirwar. The court directed that the entire fine amount be given to the victim for her rehabilitation. According to additional district government counsel Vijay Kushwaha, the incident took place on December 18, 2023, in a village under the Samthar police station area. On the day of the incident, the child was alone at home when the accused entered the house and took her to a deserted place on the pretext of giving her food. The accused raped the minor and left her bleeding with serious injuries. He was later arrested by the police and sent to jail.The police had booked him under sections 376AB, 323 and 363 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 5(m) and 6 of the POCSO Act. During the trial, he was found guilty, and on Friday he was sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2,11,000.
