Man's body found on highway, murder suspected
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 22 -- A middle-aged man's body was found lying on the highway on Sunday morning. Police, who arrived after receiving information, were unable to identify him. Photos of the body have been circulated on the internet.
As per reports, villagers of Andhawan village under Kokhraj police station area in Kaushambi on Sunday morning saw the body of a middle-aged man lying on Prayagraj-Kanpur National Highway at around 6am. The deceased, seemingly around 45 years old, was wearing only a pair of black pants with no other clothing, and had a large beard.
On receiving information, police arrived on the scene and carried out preliminary investigations.
Despite all efforts, the deceased remained unidentified. Police sent the body for post-mortem. There were also injury marks on his body.
SHO of Kokhraj police station Chandrabhushan Maurya said that prima facie, the case appears to be a road accident. Efforts are underway to identify him. It would be too early to comment before the identification and post-mortem reports are available.
DSP Sirathu Satyendra Tiwari said the body of the middle-aged man found on Prayagraj-Kanpur National Highway could not be identified and it has been sent for postmortem examination. htc...
