MEERUT, Jan. 2 -- A 30-year-old man was allegedly killed in Badaun's Mujaria police station area on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by vehicles and assaulted with hockey sticks and wooden rods, police said, as the family claimed the attack was linked to an old personal dispute. The deceased, Virendra Kumar of Ismailpur Mebdi village, was travelling with his uncle Rajendra to Bareilly for medical treatment when the incident occurred between Sagrai and Aliganj around 1.30 pm. Family members alleged that Virendra's friend and his brothers surrounded them, rammed their motorcycle with a pickup vehicle, and later ran them over with a car. The two were then allegedly beaten with hockey sticks and wooden rods. Virendra died on the spot, while Rajendra sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. A video purportedly showing Rajendra pleading for help later surfaced on social media, though its authenticity has not been independently verified. Police said the accused allegedly fled after locals gathered, leaving the vehicles behind. Officials said no written complaint has been received so far and the post-mortem examination is scheduled. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Brijesh Kumar Singh said the matter is under investigation. "Strict action will be taken based on the evidence that emerges. No guilty person will be spared."...
