Man pastes plaint on chest, flags delay in mobile tower shifting
LUCKNOW, Dec. 19 -- In a bizarre protest, an elderly man pasted a complaint letter on his chest, seeking to get a private mobile tower near his house removed, during the LDA's Janata Adalat on Thursday.
The complainant, Suresh Chandra, said he had constantly been approaching authorities for the removal of the tower. "Officials had ordered the removal of the tower, but even after eight months, no action has been taken," he said, alleging collusion between officials and the tower owner.
The protest set the tone for the public hearing, where multiple complainants accused LDA officials of apathy, delay and failure to act against illegal constructions and land misuse across the city.

"After pressure from allottees, one-and-a-half acre land was provided in Sector K. Residents spent their own money to build a temple on one plot.
Now, the LDA has appointed its own priest there and is planning to construct a community centre on land reserved for a park," Pandey said, demanding that no construction be allowed on green spaces.
A complainant highlighted that no senior official is present in the Janata Adalat to listen to public grievances. But an LDA official revealed that most of the officials are busy at the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in wake of its proposed upcoming inauguration.
Brijmohan Sharma, corporator from Ibrahimpur ward 4, claimed that a land mafia had resumed illegal construction of a hotel on government land in Harihar Nagar.
He said a case had been registered against the builder in 2016, following which the construction was stopped.
"Over the last 10 days, the builder has restarted hotel construction. Despite several complaints to the LDA junior engineer and municipal corporation tehsildar, no action has been taken," said Sharma, adding he brought the matter directly before the LDA V-C.
Many complainants alleged that field level officials, including JEs and municipal staff, were ignoring complaints, allowing illegal constructions and land use violations....
