PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 5 -- A man was arrested for allegedly withdrawing Rs.19,000 from a UCO Bank ATM near the UP Roadways Bus Stand in Pratapgarh city by manipulating the machine with a black plate. Acting on a complaint lodged by the branch manager, police apprehended the accused and recovered a fake Aadhaar card along with Rs.5,500 in cash obtained through the fraudulent withdrawal. Branch manager Ranjit Ranjan lodged a complaint at the City Kotwali police station on Monday, stating that the accused had repeatedly withdrawn money from unsuspecting customers. Acting on the report, Civil Lines police outpost in-charge Anupam Tripathi reviewed CCTV footage, identified the accused, and arrested him on Monday evening from a lane near the Roadways area. The accused has been identified as Waziyuddin, also known as Shaukeen, a resident of Shakuabad under the Lilapur police station area. During the search, police recovered a black plastic plate, a cutter knife, a fake Aadhaar card, and Rs.5,500 in cash obtained through the ATM fraud.
