LUCKNOW, Oct. 25 -- A 17-year-old girl was taken to a room in Vibhuti Khand by a 32-year-old man she had befriended online. The girl had left home after an argument with her father. However, the father's swift action and use of a phone-tracking application helped him trace and rescue her, and assist the police in arresting the accused. According to the police, the accused, identified as Tauqeer Alam, a resident of Indira Nagar, developed contact with the minor through a social media platform. SHO Amar Singh said that according to her father's statement, on Tuesday, Alam reportedly convinced the girl to meet him, following which the girl left her home and first reached a club in the Gomti Nagar extension area after which the girl's location started showing near DLF MyPad complex in Vibhuti Khand, a prominent commercial-residential area of the city. The father immediately rushed to the spot and informed Dial 112. The police located the minor and detained the accused. "The father acted very promptly, which played a crucial role in preventing further harm," said SHO Amar Singh, Vibhuti Khand. He confirmed that the accused is married and has a daughter. Police stated that the accused allegedly intoxicated the minor and engaged in obscene acts before being caught. Based on the father's written complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including 64/137(2)/87/123 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act under section 3/4. The accused was interrogated and later produced before the court, which sent him to judicial custody. The minor has undergone medical examination and has been provided counselling. Police are also verifying whether the accused has a history of similar offences in other police stations. Officials said his phone and social media chats are being examined to check for possible contact with other minors....
