Man loses Rs.1.29 cr in online trading scam, FIR lodged
Lucknow, July 30 -- A resident of PWD Colony, Jiamau, has alleged that he was duped of Rs.1.29 crore in a sophisticated online trading scam orchestrated via social media and messaging apps. An FIR has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway.
In his complaint to Gautampalli police station, the victim, Ramendra Kumar Mishra, 36, stated that fraudsters posing as representatives of an online trading platform contacted him through WhatsApp. They promised high returns and shared a link, encouraging him to invest via Google Pay between July 17 and 18.
Ramendra transferred a total of Rs.1,29,30,100 from his Indian Overseas Bank (Raj Bhawan branch) and IDFC First Bank (Gomti Nagar branch) accounts. However, after the transfers, the fraudsters demanded an additional Rs.70 lakh, threatening to forfeit his existing investment if he failed to comply.
Realising he had been scammed, Ramendra froze both bank accounts and lodged complaints with the Cyber Cell in Hazratganj and the national cybercrime portal. He also submitted transaction records, bank statements, and the suspect's mobile number to police. htc...
