Man jumps into river amidst alleged 'marriage pressure'
Prayagraj, Nov. 6 -- A young man in Piprahata village, Kaushambi, committed suicide by jumping into the Tons River on Wednesday morning under the pressure to marry immediately before police could arrive.
It is alleged that the deceased's girlfriend had been living with him for the past four days. Her family had threatened to file an FIR if he did not marry her immediately. A complaint was filed with the Kaundhiara police station on Tuesday evening. Upon learning of this, the young man took his own life. With the help of divers, his body was recovered and sent for postmortem. The police have taken the girl into custody for interrogation.
Reports indicate that the deceased worked at a dairy and was in a relationship with a young woman from the village. It is alleged that on November 1, the woman left her home and came to his house, insisting on marriage. Her family threatened to file a police complaint against the young man if he didn't arrange a court or temple wedding within an hour. However, the young man remained adamant about having a grand wedding.
Upon learning of the complaint filed at the police station on Tuesday evening, the young man panicked. At around 8 am on Wednesday, he went to the Tons River with his friend Deepak and jumped in. Boatmen on the river bank raised an alarm, but by then, the young man had drowned. After nearly five hours of effort, Kaundhiara police recovered the body with the help of local fishermen.
Two brothers, returning from the Prayagraj district headquarters on their bike, were killed after being hit by an unknown vehicle near Rajgarh on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway. The incident occurred at around midnight on Tuesday.
As per reports, Mahendra Kumar, 38, resident of Narhar Patti under Delhupur police station area of Pratapgarh and Nagendra, 22, alias Mithilesh Vishwakarma, his brother had gone to the district headquarters in search of a mechanic for getting a fault in their solar panel. While returning home on their bike at around 12 midnight, they were hit by an unknown vehicle in Rajgarh, Delhupur.
Police sent the bodies for post-mortem. As per police outpost in-charge CCTV footage was being scanned around the area for ascertaining the vehicle involved in the accident.
A young woman suffering from fever died in a private hospital in Kanaili on Wednesday morning. It is alleged that when her condition had worsened, the doctor abandoned her and fled the scene instead of treating her.
Upset over the same, family members of the victim staged a protest in the hospital. On receiving information police arrived at the hospital and brought the situation under control besides sending the body for postmortem. As per the police a complaint has been received in the matter and action based on the postmortem report will be taken.
The deceased was identified as Kamlavati, 28, alias Kamala Devi, resident of Gurauli village under Kaushambi police station area.
SHO of Saini police station Veer Pratap Singh said that the cause of death will be clear in the postmortem report after which action would be initiated against the guilty....
