Man impersonating NSG commando held
Lucknow, July 7 -- A 22-year-old man was arrested near the Alambagh bus stand on Saturday night for impersonating a National Security Guard (NSG) commando in order to travel across Uttar Pradesh without paying fares and to enjoy other privileges.
The accused, identified as Ranjan Kumar, a resident of Taraya Sujan in Kushinagar district, was found wearing an NSG uniform and carrying a wireless handset. His suspicious behavior drew the attention of local authorities. Police intercepted him near a mall after receiving complaints that he was misbehaving with bus conductors while attempting to board buses without a ticket.
According to Alambagh station house officer (SHO) Subhash Chandra, Ranjan was coercing conductors to let him travel for free, claiming to be an NSG commando. "When questioned by the police, he continued to maintain the lie, even claiming to be the security guard of a religious preacher, Indresh Upadhyay Maharaj of Vrindavan, and said he had Y-category security," the SHO said.
During a frisk, police discovered an automatic pistol, reportedly made in Italy, tucked into his waistband. "He admitted to regularly impersonating an NSG officer to avoid paying for bus and train rides, watch movies in malls without tickets, and eat for free at roadside eateries," said police.HTC...
