LUCKNOW, Dec. 7 -- A man, in his 50s, was killed after being struck by an unidentified vehicle on Deva Road within the Chinhat police station limits, on Saturday. The victim, identified as Mithilesh Yadav of Rahmanpur in Matiyari, died on the spot, police said in a press note. Police said they received information about the crash on Saturday morning. A team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found the man lying dead on the road opposite a hospital. His body had severe injuries to the arms, legs, and torso, and the impact had caused significant damage to his face, indicating that the vehicle was moving at high speed. Eyewitnesses told police that Mithilesh had been walking toward a dhaba (eatery) for some work when an unidentified vehicle struck him with great force, dragging him underneath and killing him instantly. "After some time, the victim's son, Sachin-who works in a private company near Naubasta- reached the scene and identified the deceased as his father. Police carried out an on-site panchanama and sent the body for postmortem to KGMU as per protocol," said station house officer (SHO) Dinesh Chandra Mishra. Police said the driver fled the scene after the incident.
