Man held with fake notes worth Rs.2.17L received from West Bengal
AGRA, Oct. 28 -- An accused involved in circulating fake currency received from West Bengal was arrested in Aligarh on Sunday. Police recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs.2.17 lakh from his possession. The accused had previously been arrested by Aligarh police for allegedly distributing fake currency.
Superintendent of police (City) Aligarh, Mrigank Shekhar Pathak, stated that the accused has been identified as Jikra-ul-Hasan, alias Rocky, who was arrested from a graveyard in Aligarh.
"Police have recovered and seized fake currency notes worth Rs.2.17 lakh, which the accused admitted to having received from Malda in West Bengal," said officials. The accused had attempted to exchange Rs.1 lakh through an online transfer, but the Jan Seva Kendra in-charge became suspicious and alerted the police, leading to his arrest.
A case has been registered under various sections of Bhartiya Nyayay Sanhita at Delhi Gate police station of Aligarh, Pathak said.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that his friend Barik, based in West Bengal, was involved in circulating fake currency and had introduced him to another associate named Juber. Police added that the accused had previously been arrested by the Roravar police station for a similar offense....
